What Is Commitment?

Our whole ethos at Berry Rowan is focused on five main values which we apply to everything we do. Over the next few weeks we are going to look at each of our core values, starting today with commitment. Let’s start with a definition:

Looking around you every day you will see examples of commitment. Last weekend there more than 40,000 people took part in the London Marathon – they have been committed to training for many months to prepare themselves to run 26.2 miles. Many of them are also making a huge commitment to raise money for charities and worthy causes they support.

Being based in Portishead, near the coast we often see the commitment shown by the RNLI Portishead volunteers risking their lives to rescue the public – and one of their crew members is running in the marathon too! Jeanette’s husband who was in the Port Issac RNLI for many years, also ran in the Marathon on Sunday to help raise money for a new D Class Lifeboat. They are still fundraising if you would like to helphoto of athletes who ran London Marathon to support RNLI port Issacp click the pic!

Only a few months ago we were pleased to join our peers and colleagues in a commitment to support local homeless people at Christmas by supporting Julian Trust Night Shelter.

In a business context our commitment is to always support our clients and candidates with the best advice and ensure we get the best match for every vacancy. Jeanette says “We are committed to a personal approach to recruitment consultancy, taking the time to listen and treat every company and every candidate as a unique chance to develop a career or develop a business.”

We all know that great employers and managers are those who are committed to their team and individual members of staff; they know how to motivate and get the best out of everyone.

Anyone looking for a new job and employees should show their commitment by being focused, dedicated, punctual and willing to take on the challenges and tasks required to get the job done.

It’s easy to say but, without commitment, nothing happens! When you have made a commitment to something it keeps you motivated to achieve. That is why it’s one of the core values we uphold at Berry Rowan.
